Once you have your site up and running, how are people going to find it?
The primary way people find web sites is by using a search engine. Try this now. If you were going to find a site like the one you plan on creating, what search terms would you use to find it? Got one in mind? Good.
Now, go to google, yahoo, msn, or whatever your favorite search engine is and type that phrase in. How many sites were listed? What is the chance that your site will be listed on the first page or two once your site is live?
Why the first page? Well, if you found what you were looking for on the first page, would you continue to look on the other pages?
No? I didn't think so.
If you want to be found on the first page of the search engines, you have to plan to be on the first page. You must optimize your site for the search engines from the beginning or your site will get buried at the bottom of the search engine listings.
