- Install the
dotNet runtime before installing
the client components.
- Run the VSS.net client installation.
- Run the client, by selecting the menu option or the
icon off the desktop.
- To do anything useful, you'll need to configure VSS*net
so that it knows how to connect to the database. You do
this in the options dialog which you can access by selection Tools
| Options... from the menu bar. If this is the first time
you've used VSS.net you can use the entry that is already listed
to connect to our demo database and try it out. The
user name is demo and the password is password.
- Select the "Database List" tab.
- Fill in the Local Name with the name you want to call
the database.
- Fill in the Remote Name with the databaseName
that the server knows the database as (see the keys section of the
server install)
- Fill in the URL with the url location of the Vss*net
web service. This would look something like http://www.server.com/VssNet/VssNet.asmx.
Assuming you have been set up on the server to access the
database you specified, you should be all set
